Real Madrid clinched their 14 UEFA Champions League trophy after beating Liverpool in the final at the Stade De France.
The Los Blancos showed their tactical display against Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah led attack.
Vinicius Jnr who gave the Reds defense a tough time broke the deadlock in the 58 minutes after he connected to a cross from Valverde.
Also, Thibaut Courtois produced some stunning saves during the game. The former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid star stopped Salah several occasions to keep the game at stalemate.
Due to his performance, he was handed the best player of the match. He posed with the shinning award.
Speaking after the game, he took swipe at critics who didn't give Real Madrid a chance in the game.
Thibaut Courtois: “Back in England, I don’t get enough respect. So, I showed it today. I wanted to put some respect on my name there.”
Following Courtois latest achievement, he joined the ranks of other goalkeepers who have once claimed MVP award.
Only three goalkeepers have been named Man of the Match in a Champions League final:
1. Oliver Kahn (2001)
2. Edwin van der Sar (2008)
3. Thibaut Courtois (2022)
Thibaut Courtois added: “I said Real Madrid don’t play finals, they win it and saw a lot of tweets coming my way, saying, ‘Real Madrid will get humbled’. Well it was the other way around, I told you.”
